RIBA Chartered Practice

Woodward Smith Chartered Architects LLP has grown since its predecessor practice Michael J Smith and Associates was formed in 1981. The current practice is headed up by John Woodward, RIBA Chartered Architect and Matthew Steart, RIBA Part II . John and Matt are supported by 5 permanent architectural staff, two of whom are CIAT and BRE registered Energy Assessors for new build homes and residential conversions. Our two remaining architectural staff are RIBA Part II qualified and actively working toward their RIBA Part III exams.

The Practice specialises in planning and design for the residential and business sectors having strong and established working relationships with the local planning authorities of North Devon, Torridge and Mid Devon District Councils.

Utilising Autodesks 'Revit' CAD Software since 2004 the practice is able to offer clients a deeper understanding of their build/project prior to the build commencing.

This technology has recently taken a further step forward with the advent of virtual reality (VR) headsets that allow our clients to step inside their project; understanding and experiencing them at an even deeper level.

The practice carries ISO 9001 and 14000 accreditation and is proud to be part of the 'Investors in People' scheme.
