Vention House

The angles of the contemporary addition draws inspiration from the surroundings, together with the sympathetic renovation of the existing dwelling and boathouse.

Northcote Barn
Woodward Smith Chartered Architects were commissioned to gain planning approval to convert an existing industrial building under Permitted Development rights to a new home in North Devon. This exceptionally high-quality finish was achieved using charred larch cladding, a feature staircase with bridge and a bespoke kitchen.

Higher Hunnacott
Woodward Smith Chartered Architects gained planning permission for two former railway carriages as a dwelling prior to gaining planning permission to demolish these and build a new dwelling outside the village of Landkey. This timber frame dwelling assimilated into its surroundings with the inclusion of an unknown well that was found during construction in the dining room!

Glass House
A series 2 Grand Designs Project just outside of Exeter in 2006 saw the practice design a dwelling in the grounds of a walled garden to a substantial residential estate. The conceptual idea related to a potting shed style architectural form on the public side of the walled garden with a translucent box on the more private, and intimate side of the garden. Simple and beautiful.

North Buckland Farm
This project at North Buckland Farm is for a conversion of an existing barn into ancillary accommodation, featuring a cantilevered box to capture the views over the countryside adjacent to the property. The feature scissor trusses and vaulted first floor space provide the client with a beautiful entertainment space in addition to their lovely home.

Hornbeams
Contemporary replacement dwelling on Higher Park Road, Braunton. This dwelling benefits from superb panoramic views over Braunton to the Taw and Torridge estuaries from its private deck areas. The large open plan living areas flow naturally to the outside spaces and the views beyond. It was finished to a very high standard by a private contractor; a life long friend of the client.
